Chardavoine
Haitian-born and Brooklyn-raised, Chardavoine is a versatile guitarist celebrated for his mastery of diverse musical styles and his groundbreaking contributions to the genre of Haitian Jazz. He has collaborated with luminaries such as Grammy award winner Dave Valentin, Cornelius Bumpus of The Doobie Brothers, and actor Danny Glover, while also sharing stages with legends like the Yellowjackets and Oleta Adams. His career includes a cameo appearance in Malcolm Lee acclaimed film The Best Man. Chardavoine’s notable performances include playing at Aretha Franklin’s birthday celebration with the Tito Puente Jr. Orchestra and opening for the Yellowjackets at the 2015 Port-au-Prince Jazz Festival .
In 2023, Barrett Guitars honored him with a signature guitar line, a testament to his influence in the music world. His album The Tribute showcases his exceptional talent as a guitarist and creative arranger, solidifying his role as a trailblazer in modern jazz. Among his accolades, Chardavoine received an award from the Schomburg Center for his humanitarian work with the American Red Cross, presented by jazz legends Max Roach and Bernard Purdie.
